Dr Jessop started working at Broken Cross Surgery in November 2016 for her final year as a Trainee GP. When she finished her GP training she returned as a regular locum and in October 2021 Dr Jessop became a GP Partner.

Claire qualified in February 1989 and has worked at Broken Cross Surgery since May 2006. Her wroking days are Monday & Tuesday.

Dianne Sanderson

Clinical Pharmacist

Dianne has worked at Broken Cross Surgery since June 2020. She works Mondays & Tuesday all day and Thursday morning.

Dianne can answer any queries you have related to your medications including any herbal or over the counter remedies you may take. She can do a review of your medications to check that the dose is appropriate, whether there are any drugs which interact and whether you can stop or need to start any as well as making sure you are up to date with blood tests. Dianne can also advise on a range of long term conditions such as  respiratory diseases, depression, and skin disorders such as acne, eczema or psoriasis.

Trish Ridgway

Pharmacy Technician

Trish has worked at Broken cross Surgery since January 2021. She deals with Medication Reviews and Audits, Hospital Discharges, Clinic Letters, Prescription Requests and Queries, Request Blood Tests all according to Medicines Management and NICE guidelines.

Physician Associate

Beth Harris

Physician Associate

Beth has worked with Broken Cross Surgery since March 2021. She can deal with a wide range of medical problems and undertakes chronic disease reviews & medication reviews. Beth also helps to look after two of the local care homes to do ward rounds.

Physician Associates are clinical graduates trained in the medical model to consult, examine, understand the patient’s problems, and plan care.
They work to complement GPs and the practice team.

Musculoskeletal First Contact Practitioner

Matt has worked at Broken Cross Surgery since September 2022. He works across 2 GP practices and Macclesfield Hospital

A first contact practitioner (FCP) is an experienced physiotherapist who has the advanced skills necessary to assess, diagnose and recommend appropriate treatment or referral for musculoskeletal (MSK) problems on a patient’s first contact with healthcare services e.g. when they visit their GP surgery.
If appropriate, Matt may prescribe a programme of exercises, refer for blood tests or X-ray, administer steroid injections, or refer to secondary health service e.g. rheumatology or orthopaedics.

Practice Team

Mrs Lesley Barrett

Practice Manager

Lesley joined the surgery as Practice Manager in January 2002 and is responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of the Practice.

She runs the business side of the medical practice, recruiting employees, ensuring the well-being of doctors and staff, managing the practice’s finances, and ensuring the organisation complies with relevant laws and regulations and contractual obligations. Lesley works closely with the GP Partners and other team members to develop and improve our services to keep up-do-date with changes in primary care.

Mrs Susan Brown

Operations Manager

Sue joined Broken Cross Surgery in June 2008 as Reception Manager.
In September 2020, she then became the Operations Manager working closely with the Practice Manager and GP Partners to ensure the smooth day to day running of the surgery, supporting Lesley in the recruitment of staff and HR within the practice.

Sue is responsible for GP and Staff cover planning and the management of rotas and annual leave booking to allow the practice to run as efficiently as possible at all times.

Medical Secretaries 

Nicky & Fiona

Female
Nicky & Fiona have worked at Broken Cross Surgery since March 2018.

They look after referrals, prescriptions, emails, health insurance reports and deal with general secretarial duties.

Practice Administrators

Clare & Sam

Female
Clare joined the surgery in November 2022 and Samantha has worked at Broken Cross since April 2010.

They deal with clinical coding, online access, medical records, new registrations, recalling of chronic diseases, NHS health checks and scanning patient letters along with other general admin.

Broken Cross Surgery has five Patient Advisors.
